Thigh Lift

Thigh Lift

Thigh lift is the solution to the problem of skin laxity in the inner thighs. This situation is common among individuals after massive weight loss and in those after a certain age.

Thigh lift is accomplished by removing the excess skin from the inner upper thighs with an incision at the groin region. The exact point of the incision is marked preoperatively and the amount of the skin to be excised is also estimated.
There are two different techniques of thigh lift: one that uses a short horizontal groin scar (mini thigh lift) and another one that uses a vertical thigh scar (vertical thigh lift). In some cases, thigh lift can be combined with liposuction in order to achieve the best possible outcome.

The operation is carried out with local anesthesia and intravenous sedation and takes about 2 hours. The incisions are carefully placed where they are hidden by the patient’s underwear. Drains are placed in order to avoid fluid concentration in the area and they are taken out in 2-3 days. The patient is advised to wear a post-surgery garment for 4 weeks.

Possible complications are:

  • Pure healing and wound disruption (especially smokers and diabetics)
  • Visible or malformed scar
  • Infection
  • Hypoesthesia
  • Skin laxity relapse

What should I expect after my thigh lift surgery?
Overnight stay at the clinic. Drains are removed after 2-3 days and a special garment is used for a month. Post-operative pain is mild and easily addressed with common  painkillers. Moderate swelling and bruising of the area that resolve within 5-7 days. Absorbable sutures are used that do not need to be removed. Exercise should be avoided for 1 month. We also recommend the use of special ointment for the best possible wound healing.
The results are visible almost immediately. The final outcome will, however, fully develop within a few monts after surgery.
