Breast Reduction

Breast Reduction

Having overly large breasts can cause various functional and psychological problems. Neck and back pain as well as dermatitis beneath the breasts are very often. On the other hand, problems with sex and social life can occur in some cases.

With reduction mammoplasty we achieve both volume reduction and breast lift. Operation time is about 3 hours and is performed under general anesthesia. Excess skin, fat and gland are removed and the nipple is positioned back at its normal place. Drains are placed to prevent blood concentration (hematoma) and they are removed in 2-3 days. The patient remains at the clinic overnight and wears a special brassiere for 4-6 weeks.

We are thinking of having a child. When is the right time for breast reduction?
Breast reduction should not be done if pregnancy and breastfeeding is planned in the near future and postponed a year after the end of lactation.

What kind of scars does breast reduction leave?
With the majority of techniques currently used, there is a circular scar around the nipple, a vertical one underneath and a third one along the crease beneath the breast. These scars mature over time and fade becoming less visible within one year after surgery.
