The nose determines the overall appearance of the human face. It is also a key anatomical feature of the respiratory function. With rhinoplasty we achieve the aesthetic improvement of the nose, but we can also rectify the inspiratory function, in those cases where breathing problems are also present.
Rhinoplasty is a very common surgical procedure for men and women. It is performed under general anesthesia and takes about 2 hours.
How painful is rhinoplasty surgery?
Pain after surgery is minimal. It is successfully treated with paracetamol and other common painkillers.
What is to be expected after the operation?
Nose packing (nose tampons) is removed 2-4 days after the operation. The nasal splint is removed after seven days. During the first 10-14 days there is swelling and bruising around the nose and eyelids.
The new shape of the nose is obvious immediately after the removal of the nasal splint. However, the results are final after complete resolution of swelling, 6-12 months after surgery.
